We are so excited to bring back ‘zucchini races’ for the Fall Fair. In these races, we make zucchini cars by attaching wheels (provided by us) and race them down the hill!
Who will be the fastest? Best decorated? Biggest cheers? Come bring a zucchini and find out!

What you need:
-
Decorated Zucchini (see below for decoration recommendations and restrictions).
-
Wheels and axles (provided onsite).
-
Enthusiasm (cause this is serious business)!!!!!
Race Rules:
The cars will race down a ramp and onto the street in groups of 4-6 cars. Racing heats will continue until a winner is crowned.. Prizes will be given in several judged categories including speed and decoration.
Race Cars
-
Each race car must be created from a single zucchini with the supplied wheels and axles. Similarly-sized yellow squash and cucumbers are also permitted. Generally, if it is a vegetable, fits our wheels on it, and fits the track, we will probably love it…
-
There is no size limit for the zucchini. However, the wooden axles are 8” long, and the lanes of the race ramp will be 10” wide.
-
The cars must be gravity-powered only. No motorized vehicles permitted.
Decoration
The race car may be decorated with any variety of craft materials.
-
We recommend you decorate the race cars at home, though we will provide some decoration options on site.
-
We would like our racers to be compostable so please no paint directly on vegetables.
- Recommended decorations include pipe cleaners, stickers, construction paper, glue, tape, toothpicks, other vegetables etc.
